Harry S Truman worked on the family farm in Grandview for eleven years, from his 22nd to 33rd year. The site is part of Harry S Truman National Historic Site, about an hour away from the rest of the site in Independence, Missouri.

The farmhouse and some outbuildings at Harry S Truman's farmhouse in Grandview, Missouri.

The houses are open only irregularly. The site has now been swallowed up by mini-malls and other suburban development.

Harry S Truman's family farm in Grandview, Missouri.

His grandparents, Solomon and Harriet Young, established the farm after the Civil War. His father, John Truman, moved his family to the farm in 1887.

After his mother, Harriet, was widowed in 1906, Harry Truman left his big-city life in Independence and moved back to the farm for eleven years.
