truth is : They aren't real bootlegs !!

.. these are custom made shirts i PAY with my own money to have made.

I am not making en mass, not am i selling them. I am not offering to make them for other people not am i seeking to.

These are made for me.
Never being allowed to really express myself as a nervous, neurotic child in Catholic school .. i was being forced to conform to an abusive. One was also forced to dress according to a code. I swore to myself that when i got older i wanted a big t-shirt collection all my own, more than just a couple.. i wanted a whole closet full. One for more than there a days ina week !! All this to break the strain of repression i grew up with and to help even more in customizing & personalizing the way i dress. I don't want the shame old shit everyone else is wearing !! !!

Yeh yeh - still will get store-bought & designed shirts, designer tees when i can afford it, vintage shirts and the like IF i like them.

but sometimes they put stuff out and designs out that are LESS THAN Impressive and boring. That bothers me and is sad i cannot always see the designs i love from comics, art, or what-not .. be allotted the chance do be put on other, legit licensed products. So well - -

There are various ( & hard earned money ) impulses, times, decisions, reasons, that go into getting a custom shirt made.

Maybe i'll see a vintage T-shirt iron-on published online with my favourite TMNT characters i wish to see reconstructed on a brand new shirt, maybe a little design in a magazine i want to blow up,manipulate, maybe even add my own funny caption and have it digitally printed on a shirt.

Or in the case of the D.Rapoza "SLASH" shirt here.. i see a beautifully powerful design that i feel DESERVES to be made onto a shirt and i just have got to see it happen cuz i want one so bad.

So i MAKE IT HAPPEN.. get a cheap tee off the discount rack like at Target, digitally create a hi-rez; CMYK file of a design i want and take it to my favourite embroidery/t-shirt shop.

This can cost anywhere to $22 - 29 TOTAL depending on the blank shirt i purchase for printing and costs of the actual digital iron-on once it's been made and cost of labour. Prices have increased slightly as of recent so i am only able to get these made very often.

Again, legally - no there is no way i can offer these to anyone. But i wish the powers that be would wake-up and realize that there's a cache of millions of designs that deserve to be made into great licensed products if licensors and licensees would just wake the fuck up and realize n' give the fans what they want and things that would blow them away !! Thus in turn potentially turning a profit.

Whatever - that's the method and reasoning behind my madness.

I have had inquiries about getting these pretend bootlegs made for others but none of them are serious. Yeh if i was compensated for my time, cost of materials, and labour, ect. -- we could talk. But nada one of these inquiries i've taken serious as people act like i should just get them made for 'em and give them away.

Takes allot of planning, hard work , and hard earned money ( what little broke-ass Tokka has coming in ) to get these shirts made.

But believe it's worth it because i've help create something that makes me happy and has a long longevity as i am a known obsessive-recycler of materials and vintage t-shirt prints. I also take good care of all my tees and try to make them last as long as possible ( Woolite & gentle-cycle or hand-washing should be household words for those that want to make their fave t-shirts last ).

And in this case it shows off a brilliant piece of work that deserves to be shown off and bragged about. Cuz Dave Rapoza is THAT GOOD.
