A mini-serie I did for my schoolpaper. The theme was fine clothing so we got some clothes from "Herrafataverslun Kormáks og Skjaldar" and we also shot the photos there. Amazing place and fantastic clothes.

Silver Umbrella from the high left and softbox from the low right. Pretty basic lighting.

Taken from the 19th floor of "Höfðatorg". One of the highest buildings in Reykjavik. It is newly built and I was shooting a video there. The floor is currently not in use and the walls haven't even been painted and there is no decent floor there, just concrete.

But the view was great...

During the big protest in Iceland, october 2008. The protests were cooling down and almost finished but this riot policeman was still on duty, tired after the events of the days before.

Diamond HK-36TTC Super Dimona

A "hybrid" airplane owned by the Icelandic Gliding Club (Svifflugfélag Íslands).
It can glide very far but it still has motor (not very powerful though) for takeoff and some fun flying.

I was looking for sheep in the valley when I turned around and before my eyes was this beautiful rainbow because of the snowstorm just a few kilometers away. This is Icelandic weather, there I stand in the sun watching a snowstorm in the distance and a rainbow in the middle.

It was a dark night at the harbor, so I set up the tripod.

Converted to B&W, played a bit making the photo almost contain nothing but pure blacks and whites.

I was looking for sheep when I heard a familiar sound, it was a jet flying above me. I grabbed my zoom real quick.

Converted to B&W and played with the exposure getting almost only pure blacks and whites.

Went to the harbor one still evening. Set up my tripod and fired away. There is another boat of the same type behind this one and they have both been in this spot since 2008. Why? I have no idea.

The protests got bigger and more harsh. The protesters tried to go in throught the backdoors but riot police formed a barrier and stopped them.

From news mbl.is :

-A kind of steel to steel situation is now at the garden surrounding the Parliament in which a group of protesters that still beat the drums and shout slogans. Police have notified the people that she would look at this as a illegal protest and people should leave the park but the protester refuse to stop the protests.

Today I was in flight with my flight instructor when we saw a strange cloud in the distance. I have been learning much about volcanic eruptions and environmental issues so I confirmed that it was an eruption. We headed the way taking photos on regular interval capturing the eruption gradually escalating. We believe we were the first to see the eruption, another man told the news he saw it around 19:15. Our first photo was taken at 19:06 only 20 minutes after the authorities claimed eruption might be beginning.

UPDATE at 22.05.2011 - 11:50 GMT

Keflavik airport has been closed and almost all of Iceland is covered in ash. Experienced men say this is one of the biggest eruptions they have seen in Iceland and it has lightning strikes almost 30-40 kilometers away from the eruption. All domestic flight in Iceland has been cancelled. Bridges have been closed because of the amount of water that may come from the eruption.

The wind is good for flights flying past Iceland as the forecast says the ash will go mostly north but if the wind changes the ash might stretch to the south or maybe Europe in the following days.

Unknown dam | Iceland

Went for a photographic explorations with my friend (www.flickr.com/svavarfreyr).
We took different routes around an area that everybody has been to and explored the scenery around it. The weather couldn't had been better although it was pretty cold.
My Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 20mm f/4 performed great but occasionally I needed more Zoom and grabbed my 50mm f/1.8 (not often) and it too performed very well.

This is a flow of water that has gone through the dam. It was not much that came per second but enough for long exposure. Some of the water splattered on the surroundings and froze creating all kinds of sculptures.

I was trying a new type of sharpening procedure. Any comments on that?

I looked at the scenery around me but it was so empty, only powerlines and distant mountains between empty ground. So I started to look down and there were so many untaken photographs there. So I grabbed one.
