So, how about a picture that isn't blue? :D It seems all of my photos this year have been that color. I love snow and cloudy skies, but a very wise person once said, "Variety is the spice of life."

I also applied that logic to the Scoob and gave her a nice bath. It's tough to justify it with weekly jaunts to snow-land, but this should last me a few days -- A few days where I don't end up black just from grabbing the door handles will provide some much-appreciated variety, haha.

At this moment, I felt as empty as the train was; 3am, Christmas flight canceled, exhausted, and relatively hopeless. Photography makes life better :) This shot alone made me much happier.

Life wasn't done

And I naively thought I was in the clear when I posted that last photo.

I'm going on 12 hours at the airport. My redeye turned into a very red eye (it was "delayed" 2.5 hours just minutes before it was originally due to board) and ultimately got canceled after stringing us along for the duration of the "delay." Never in my life have I seen such apathetic airline staff. They told people to go home, that nothing was available until after January 5th, etc... I waited in line anyway; I figured I had absolutely nothing to lose and a glimmer of hope to gain.

Fast forward two hours of standing in that line, and I was hunting my bag down at baggage claim (they just tossed all our bags there without telling us) and went to stand in another airline's line where I have a couple miles. Three more hours. Of standing. Waiting. Wishing. Asking. Begging. Problem-solving. Thinking outside of every box you could imagine...

The stories I heard while standing in all those lines showed just how disorganized holiday travel is. Flights are routinely overbooked by 20+ people, loads of folks are getting stranded in foreign cities with no hope of getting out in time for the holidays, and I'm still trucking along, hoping to make something work. I asked myself whether I'd rather continue standing in all these lines for the chance of seeing my family for Christmas for the first time in years, or be alone, and the choice was obvious. Life got a lot better a little while ago when I got a cappuccino and chocolate croissant. Airport fuel. Let's go, let's go, let's go!

I sincerely hope none of you have to go through this and have smooth sailing with your holiday plans.

At least I got some cool pictures. :o)
