I'm in the middle of watching Bourdain's Parts Unknown in the DRC, and it reminded me of my trip to Tibet. The DRC is one of two trips (with the KKH in Pakistan being the other) that I'm not sure I'll ever be able to do. When I was younger, I watched TV shows about the bush pilots and more recently followed a couple's journey traversing the country. I can only hope the situation in the world improves and I can do both; if not, I am so happy, heartbroken, and stirred to be able to travel with Bourdain tonight.

Yes, irony. :))

This is from the Gyatso-la Pass on the Friendship Highway where you "officially" enter Qomolangma Nature Preserve (Mt. Everest). The pass is at 5,248m. We approached it on a really dark and rainy afternoon. While walking around snapping photos, the sun suddenly exploded from behind the clouds.

I love nature's skyscrapers (ahem, mountains), but there is nothing like the view from a Chicago high-rise. I really enjoyed these foggy days :))

It's been awhile since I posted anything from Tibet. Now that I'm cameraless yet again, I'm back to time-traveling through my hard drive. :)

I shot this in Lhasa and thought this woman was absolutely stunning. Hard to believe it has been over a year since I was there.

My gramma survived her mastectomy but not without complications. In the week since, she returned to the hospital twice, and now a third time for emergency surgery. She's in there now... Please cross your fingers for her. ♥

I'm going through something I haven't felt in a long time; photographic malaise. A dry spell. Loss of desire [heck, loss of equipment! haha]. I have nothing new to share, and that bums me out. That's the whole purpose of being on flickr. Luckily, I have a billion back-up folders to resort to, but I still miss the feeling of wandering around aimlessly shooting anything I stumble upon. I'm sure there will be another day for that. I'm just impatient. :)

I know it's still summer, but fall is coming! :))) With the lack of rain, it has looked like fall for quite some time already. I can't wait to carve pumpkins and go apple-picking and jump into piles of leaves... I'll be doing that when I'm 95 :D
