Was looking at some old shots originally processed in HDR and thought i'll revisit without much post-processing to see what they looked like.
Compare this to the HDR version below, which I still prefer probably. Looks shinier!

London Natural History Museum

The impressive central hall of the Natural History Museum in London. I had to wait a fair bit for the stairs to clear, but I just couldn't fit the tripod on that tight spot. So pushed the ISO up to 1000 and took 3 exposures handheld. I then manually blended them together to avoid the noise of an HDR.
The second shutter release on the new battery pack for my D300 came in handy for this portrait shot.
P.S. For those commenting this as a fisheye shot, that's actually the natural shape of the arches in the hall, no fisheye used!

The sun rising over the Yarra river in Melbourne, with its Cricket Ground and Ferris Wheel, taken from the St Kilda Road bridge.
It was rush hour as you can see from the traffic of hot-air balloons and rowing boats!

One of the most photogenic buildings on the planet, the Sydney Opera House. From whatever angle and at whatever time of the day you take a shot of it, it looks great! So I couldn't resist the hdr temptation. This was taken at dawn, half an hour or so before sunrise, from the West end of the Circular Quay.

Time for me to say goodbye to Canary Wharf. Won't be coming to this place as regularly as I have in the past few years ;-)
To celebrate, here's a shot of its characteristic skyline, with the Millennium Dome (o2 Arena) to the right, taken from the Thames Barriers.
I'll be taking a break from flickr for a month or so. Will catch up with you and your streams when I'm back!

I prefer the landscape version of this scene (below), but I thought i'd post a portrait version too, giving more prominence to the clouds and their reflections.
You can see how with the Sigma you often don't need photoshop to add some vignetting ;-)

London City Hall at night

"Designed by Norman Foster, [...] the building has an unusual bulbous shape, intended to reduce its surface area and thus improve energy efficiency. It has been compared variously to Darth Vader's helmet, a misshapen egg, a woodlouse or a motorcycle helmet..". and then one other thing again!

Another long exposure shot taken last night.. still NO HDR, I must really not feel well. I'll soon start having HDR withdrawals!!

Thanks to Tim aka "The Light Sourcerer" for suggesting the location for the shoot. Hope you can make it next time ;-)
