Mascot of the 11th PA Inf. I walked around Gettysburg that morn. and plucked a rose off a fence in town, and took it to Sallie, she warms my heart. I was there 3x last yr, the first time i had to get a Park Ranger escort to find her, she is not that easy to find. She is probably the monument that gets to me the most, the loyalty between a dog and her master. This barn is to the right of the farm picture, in back is Big Round Top, to the left is Little Round Top. This time i decided to get off the roads and walk around, however this grass was just a bit too high, i couldn't help but think about those snakes in the rocks, not snakes in the grass, lol. This is the location of the surrender by General Lee and General Grant on Palm Sunday 1865. It was dismantled to be shipped to Washington DC, then postponed, it laid in rubbles for many yrs, then later was reconstructed. Appomattox, Va. Union Co., SC. This was in Cross Keys, SC at a Civil War reenactment, the deputy or sheriff was doing crowd control, there were lots of people there. I'm hoping the dog was not in the car since it was hot.
