The concert hall on the West Pier in Brighton. A grade 1 listed pier, the only one so designated in the UK, destroyed by arson several years later.

Postcard image of West Pier Theatre Brighton. Difficult to date this image. The theatre was constructed as a concert hall in 1893, and converted to a theatre seating 1,000 in 1903. in 1916 a new concert hall was constructed in the centre section of the pier. Given the proscenium arch it is likely this is post 1903, but as the poster to the right advertises the West Pier Orchestra it is possible that it is before the opening of the concert hall, although cross venue advertising is quite likely.

The theatre did not reopen after the 2nd War, the south end of the pier closed in 1970, together with the Pavilion, and the entire pier closed in 1975. Severely dilapidated it was destroyed in a fire in 2003.

Seafest 2012 Scarborough. A food market has grown up around SeaFest (or should that be SeaFeast). The cakes by fairtrade company Fairly Scrumptious were eye-catching.

The theatre at the end of the West Pier in Brighton seated around 1,000 and had a cast iron balcony on three sides of the auditorium. After the Second World War it was converted into a restaurant and games pavilion, with very little structural change.

The pavilion at the end of the West Pier in Brighton, which contained a theatre. The Pier opened in 1866 and the theatre was added in 1893 and extended after the repairs following the First World War. It is grade 1 listed, but the end of the pier was destroyed in a spectacular fire.

Emulator is beached to enable a much needed painting of the hull. Notices are up indicating the imminent demolition of the fishing shed on the pier.

The fishing sheds on the West Pier in Scarborough which are to be demolished in the next few weeks. Scruffy, smelly and perpetually untidy, they are still a hell of a lot more interesting than the rows of cars which will replace the buildings as the Council extends the car park!

SeaFest 09 is a maritime festival which takes place every summer in Scarborough. A temporary stage is constructed on the Fish Pier and sea shanties and folk feature heavily in the programme. Richard Grainger & Chris Parkinson are on-stage.
