One of my fondest dragonfly moments so far, was with this Pond Hawk dragonfly. While out shooting insects, I noticed him on a milkweed type plant. Fortunately for me, I had my light-chute with me, and my flash was already mounted & on. Best light angle for shooting was upside down, and it's not as easy as one would think with a bulky SLR with added Battery pack. I managed to snap a few great RAW images and slowly moved in to capture the clearest result possible, and was very pleased with this one.

For decades, we've been trying to match the complex thinking power of our own brains with circuit boards and solder. Always remember, right now it takes a man to design & make be a better machine, let's just hope it stays that way.

JANUARY 2011, I've decided to reunite myself with my Flickr account and take care of the dreaded OVERSTUFFED message box and Contact Requests beyond imagination.
I certainly hope everyone is doing well and has had a good beginning to 2011.

During my visit to the pond this afternoon, I met with a new pair of geese that were younger than the last two, and quite energetic by doing all the actions to quickly fill a nest with eggs.
Let's just say, this male Canada goose was certainly contributing to evolution.

A Canadian goose sleeps at the pond. click here for FULL EYE FEATHER DETAILS
Her beak is tucked under her wing.
This is the third year that the same two geese stop by and rest for a few weeks before traveling further North.
They are quite tame and yesterday they came up on shore where I was, and decided to sleep. This female goose was totally relaxed and even when I finally got up, she didn't really budge, just opened and closed her eyes.
Both geese were sleeping within 1/2 meter of where I was sitting.
Lucky me. :-)

A photo game I play when down at the pond in the Spring.
A little bit of bread thrown out about 2-3 meters while the Ring Bill gulls are flying around. They swoop down and grab the bread without actually landing and I try to grab them going by. I usually fire off 3-4 shots and will end up deleting all but one, maybe two.
It makes for good speed practice and you get to witness the flight skills these gulls really have as they battle one another to get the bread.

Spring time "Duck Dance" after a cold winter.
March is a great time in Canada for Mallard Duck photos because their colours are best and the sun offers a nice angle during mid morning.

The Sun rises everyday, but I see it only twice a year from my city balcony. This morning was one of those mornings, and I hadn't planned on it, I just woke up and went out.
When the sun's top was coming up, I went and put a 300mm on the cam and fired off a few shots to see what I could grab.

Relax & allow for at least 10 seconds of viewing.

Using the blue and red to contrast one another, I came up with a great result using these Fall leaves and if you look at the RED, the BLUE will become deep and seem like an actual 3D background without the glasses. Just a fun eye play effect.
Large looks best.

During the flapping and water drops.... I saw a duck smile.

Snapped last week on a warmer winter day, not like the freezing weather we've had all weekend. This female Mallard Duck did a nice little flap for me and received a few treats for the nice show.

Water, fire and Ice.

Small pile of silhouetted snow (3 inches tall) on the corner of my balcony 9 floors up.
In my mind, I saw an iceberg floating in the midnight sun, so I had to make it.
So, you now know that the water is digital, I felt the need to complete the "PHOTOSHOP" by writing on the image, which I haven't done in a long time.

In some twisted way, I feel as though I'm acting out when posting totally photoshopped images.
With that said, I wish it was real and please enjoy the elements.

BIG 3108 X 2577 here for non-Flickr members. Cool detail in largest format.

Yesterday, I managed to find a nice break in the rain and went for a walk looking for something new. I found this little snail enjoying a moment on a small twig and I thought we could get along. But, when I went to introduce myself, it turned away in a high speed turn and headed for safer grounds.
I just wanted to hang out for a bit, talk nature and stuff... no threat!
