It began to lightly rain in the afternoon, but I knew the photo I wanted to take. I had a unusual afternoon - was suppose to have some radiation on my spine, but in the end, it was decided it wasn't needed at this time as I wasn't experiencing pain. So I headed home to do some photoshooting instead.

In the early morning (8am) I felt motivated to get out and photograph. I knew the type of photo I wanted - my head and flowers. I had woken up early, had breakfast and set off for adventure. I love the flowers on campus and I'm happy with take photos with them, whenever I can.

There are parts of this campus that are just beautiful to walk down.

Today I woke up early knowing I wanted to take my photo somewhere on campus before people started walking around. Glad I found this spot.

Today I woke up with ideas on taking my pills photo outside, but the rain had me worried. I didn't want them to get wet, so I ended up with a photo in my kitchen.

Each week I take 10 pills of dexamethasone and 10 pills of cyclophosphamide. I form them into the particular week of my chemo treatment - this is Cycle 5, Week 3 = Week 13 in total.

The dexamethasone continues to add fat to my face and body, unsure how much more I'm weighing now.

Cancer blood test: Complete Blood Count

This is a complete blood count - it is a single vial taken Cycle 3 Week 2 just before I had received a dose of Velcade chemo. The test results will provide an ongoing monitoring on my response to my chemo treatment.

This particular test showed:
White Blood Cells 4.2 (normal 4.5-10.0)
Neutrophils 4.0 (2-7.5)
Hemoglobin 115 (normal 113-178)
Blood Platelets 240 (normal 150-440)

After I received my Complete blood count (single vial - blood test provides an ongoing monitoring of my response to chemo, specifically the levels of my White Blood cells, Neutrophils, Hemoglobin, and Blood Platelets).

I woke up early this morning to take this photo on a road on campus. It is nice to be able to wander around campus in the morning with few people around. Summertime is so beautiful here.

The $4.5 million, two-storey wood frame building will have 15 fully-furnished bedrooms with en suites for residents. The hospice, immediately across from the UBC Botanical Garden and Thunderbird Stadium, will also provide communal living and dining space, a family room, a garden courtyard and a quiet room for residents and their families. It is scheduled for completion in fall 2013.

Today was my 12th week of chemo treatment - Cycle 3 Week 2. I realised I had just taken bland photos with the pills I take each week in addition to my Velcade chemo treatment at the hospital - thought that flowers would be nice today.

There are 10 dexamethasone pills and 10 cyclophosphamide pills in the shape of a 12. Each cycle is 5 weeks so this is Cycle 3, Week 2.

My chemo session went well (two needles 140ml, 150ml in my right side this week) and I'm staying positive!

I wandered around during sunset looking for a spot to take a photo. I found this forest area and fumbled with my camera almost too long. This was the first shot I took, the others the light was gone from the tree. I lucked out.

I was feeling tired this afternoon so I had a powernap. As it turned into early evening I wandered out to the forests around campus to take my photo. I love the nature here, so many fun places for photography.

In the early evening I wandered over to this forest and spent an hour taking photos. I was happy with most of them and found it impossible to focus point on my head (where it would be). In the end, when I got home I found this photo that was different from the rest and I decided to use it

On Friday I had my blood test as I began my 3rd cycle of Velcade chemo treatment. When I received some initial results, they showed that my counts are good and stable.

Last week I had my specialist appointment and he showed me the results of my March 29th blood test (at the beginning of Cycle 2 of my Velcade chemo treatment). My igG (cancer levels) have lowered from 62.2 back in Feb, which triggered my need to begin a 4th chemo treatment. I will find out about my blood test result last week (at the beginning of Cycle 3) in 10 weeks when I see my specialist again just before I start Cycle 5.

I'm enjoying my photography and staying positive.

Yesterday I took my cyclophophamide and dexamethasone pills as this was my first week in my 3rd cycle of Velcade chemo treatment. In total I have had 11 weeks of treatment. Staying positive!

After my Friday chemo appointment and blood test (I get a blood test to begin each new cycle, in this case, Cycle 3), I thought about where I wanted to photograph tonight.

I wandered over to the Museum of Anthropology on campus as the sun was setting and watched it for a while. I'm focused on positivity and using my photography to help my own happiness and educate others about my cancer and chemo treatment.
