I was amazed to learn that the very red parts (just below centre frame) of this were actually the original 'paint' - everything would have been very brightly coloured 1200 years ago!

You see lots of this sort of thing in Mexico - get out into the sticks and it's ultra cheap - head back into town and it can cost you up to 100 times more for exactly the same thing!

You tip for everything when you get over there - it's very much a part of their economy. Feels a little strange at first but you get used to it. We'd just been 'subjected' to a Mayan dance (though there was a distinctly 80's feel to it ;))
