Valve manifold after repair. Weird angles are now not so bad. After assembling and gluing everything, there was still a leak at a coupling on the incoming side (left of photo). The U-tube was an inelegant but effective way to fix the leak in tight quarters, avoiding either a lot of digging or cutting of pipes.

Leaky sprinkler valve manifold before my first lesson in PVC pipe repair. Note the crazy angle at the valve on the far left. When it started leaking, the handyman tried to patch it. He succeeded in temporarily slowing the leak.

Just off the I-5 near Gorman, CA. Some cheating with a saturation boost, but the flowers did look particularly nice today.

Adding an extra 'E' to the name of a new housing development means the homes are more expensive. I hate to think how much our place would have cost if it were located in Seven Oakes of Bakersfielde.

I decided to run as far south as I could today. I got to within 3 miles of Panama. Maybe 3 km, if I was really in Costa Rica. There's a canal just out of view across the road.

Near the edge of our housing development is an area where swimming pool contractors dump the dirt that they excavate, creating a landscape a little like the Dakota or Borrego Badlands.

I used to think that the concrete Los Angeles River was a joke, but the Kern River in Bakersfield outdoes the LA River in dryness. There isn't a drop of water in it except during heavy rains.
Next thing you know, they'll ban swimming in the river.
