In the foreground, one of a number of public artworks set throughout this redevelopment of an industrial harbour for residential and leisure uses. The warehouse-ish block of flats in the background stands close to the former site of a power station.

I was slightly surprised that the ground floor here - opening onto a small public space in one direction and the marina in another direction - was used for more flats and covered parking. Wouldn't it be a good place for a commercial unit of some sort or an office suite? Something to give a little variety and everyday life.

I *could* have framed a better picture, but it was extremely windy here and I was having to hold onto my hat as well as the camera.

I believe this part of the development is supposed to have something of the character of an old fishing village. It feels like a speculative developer's faint memory of somewhere like Portmeirion, but all too regular and clearly made up of standard units in fancy dress.

The muddy channel in the foreground with the high walls is the entrance to the harbour. Just out of shot to the left is a lock, making allowance for the wide tidal range of the Severn Estuary.

The corners of this block have balconies wrapped in a timber screen (open to the sky on the top floor, which was the detail that caught my eye).
