Today's post has a dual purpose. One is to show you this photo of the Girl with a Dolphin sculpture at Tower bridge while the other is to tell you that I'm off travelling this week and to see if anyone wants to meet up when I'm in their country. First, the travelling...

On Friday, myself and Greg Annandale leave for Dubai for a few days and then onwards to China for a couple of weeks. We're starting in Beijing, then Xi'an, Yangshuo / Guilin / Longshen and finally ending up in Hong Kong and Macau.

If you happen to be living or travelling in one of those areas, then pop me an email / flickrmail and we can arrange to meet up. Or, failing that, pass on any tips that you have for photographing those areas.

I've shown you Tower Bridge when the sky is pink and also when the sky was blue. Now, here it is when it's both! I've also shown you Tower Bridge at night, but I couldn't squeeze everything into this photo.

This was part of that fantastic sunset where I got to see so many wonderful colours in the sky. Although similar to the previous images, I like the feel of this one; dual main colours and a lot of breathing room for the landmark.

Please view this one large so you can see the details on the bridge and in the clouds. Thank you for all the recent comments and favourites! I read every single comment that's left and check out the photostreams of every single person who adds me as a contact. I might not add you back, as that would be unwieldy and impractical for me, but I certainly have a look at your photos!

I have removed the annoy post in the water. It took me a while, but it was eventually worth it.

Although not as good as my other photos of Tower Bridge, I still thought I'd put this one up, as it not only shows different ambient light, but also from a different angle than my previous shots. This was taken after the greatest sunset in the world had finished. It also feels good to get back to posting famous landmarks lit up at night! A point to all the non-UK people, this is a bridge in London, but it is not London Bridge, it is Tower Bridge; so many people get them mixed up!

I'm off to Finland and Estonia with VJ and Greg later today, so please excuse my absence. I'd also like to thank the people who gave me all the fantastic Helsinki advice in my previous photo. I'll get around to thanking you in person once I return! I've been very busy in work recently, so apologies if I haven't been as active on your photostreams as much as you'd like. I'll try and have a look when I eventually get the time. (You may have noticed I've also been posted photos my less frequently.)

As a night shot, this looks far more splendiferous when viewed large and on a dark background, so give that a go please. Available to buy on RedBubble as a print, poster or postcard if you so wish.

It's amazing how much the light can change during a sunset, especially a dramatic one. During this fantastic one, I was around City Hall viewing a photography exhibition, when this amazing sunset almost came out of nowhere. I stayed around for hours, getting various scenes through all the phases of light and colour. It started off quite pink, then the blue hour was truly blue, especially where Tower Bridge was concerned. As the light started to die, the sky took on a magical lavender quality to it.

It was one of the best sunsets I have ever seen and an added bonus that I had my camera and tripod. To all the photographers out there, let this be a lesson to you; always stick around shooting, as the light can differ quite suddenly and completely change the whole scene. I saw a recent sunset in Paris that almost rivalled this, so I might post one of those shots up later this week.

This photo has been one of my desktop wallpapers for quite a while now, but I feel it's time to share it with the world. Pink City

Taken during a magnificent sunset, I was running around Tower Bridge getting shots of that and the surrounding area. It was amazing to see how the light changed so dramatically in the space of an hour. I shot this same location a little bit later in the sunset during the blue hour and it looked completely different.

Just goes to show that you should start shooting early and continue shooting until well after it gets dark. You never know which shot you like best or whether you can end up using them all. Believe it or not, I actually had to de-pink this shot slightly to make it more realistic.

I was also tempted to do some sort of HDR tutorial, as I get a lot of messages about it, but there are just so many tutorials out there and by people who are much better than I am.

Excandescent Sunset

Taken during the same night as my Tower Bridge photo, this was actually taken from on the aforementioned landmark. I was around the City Hall when this amazing sunset started. I had guessed it was going to be pretty good, but nothing prepared me for this.

Sometimes, unless you get creative, shooting directly into the sun can be a challenging photograph, even when using HDR.

I'm going to try and make more of an effort to maintain my other photography accounts, such as my Facebook Page, my 500px and my RedBubble. These have been neglected in favour of Flickr, but I'll try and even out the balance.

Tower Bridge Blue Hour

As photographers, we all know that one of the best times to shoot is around sunset or just after during the blue hour. The light is so much better during these couple of hours, much like sunrise.

I was lucky to be around Tower Bridge on Saturday when we had the most amazing sunset. It was been a really cloudy day, but the sun came out strong just as it was setting. I was running around like a madman with my tripod, trying to get shots from all different angles and locations as the light was changing.

I'm not too sure why it was so prominent tonight, but the colours changed almost by the minute. It was golden to start off with, then pink, then became this magnificent lavender colour later on. I'm so thankful I had my Manfrotto tripod and Canon 5D with me!

The larger this image is, the better is looks, so please view it in the lightbox. I wish I could post up the full 5500px version of it, but then people might steal it. I'm really pleased with how this shot turned out and I think it's one of my best HDRs so far.

Twilight by London Bridge

London Bridge is one of the best bridges in London to photograph in my opinion. The different coloured lights on either side, plus the surrounding landmarks, make for some spectacular scenes. You might think this looks similar to another one of my photos and you'd be completely correct; these were taken less than ten minutes apart.

I like how The Shard stands proud amongst some interesting clouds and how the white light of the bridge gives an interesting leading line.

If you look closely, you can see HMS Belfast and Tower Bridge in the background.

This photo looks better bigger (Press L). If you like this photo, then by all means make this a favourite (Press F).

Walking across Tower Bridge (just before I took this shot of The Shard) I looked across towards HMS Belfast and was struck by just how colourful that area was! I framed the shot using the parts of the bridge supports and when it came to processing the shot, I decided the only way to show just how amazed I was at the colour was to desaturate the rest of the photograph. I don't often to selective colouring, but I thought this was a prime example for it.

After walking full circle around The Shard one evening, we decided to head back into town across Tower Bridge. After stopping to get some obligatory shots of that, we started heading past the Tower of London. I stopped to look back at The Shard and quite liked the way there was a gap in the trees and this seemed to sprout up into the sky from it. Judging by the light trails, some high vehicle drove through the shot, but I quite like the effect against the sky. I thought I'd post it as a black and white, just to make a change. I hope the monochrome suits it.

As usual, looks better larger on black (Press L).
