I captured this Great Blue Heron fishing at the Fountain Creek Nature Center near Colorado Springs. My first time out there, which is kind of embarrassing.

Anyways, it was awesome seeing this guy catch this fish. The light was just awful last night - overcast and quite dark, so I was pleased with the results given the conditions!

I got up at 1 AM and head out to the Paint Mines Interpretive Park in Calhan, Colorado to photograph the Lyrid Meteor Shower. I was rewarded with clear skies and a nice view of the Milky Way. I was successful at capturing some meteors and also bagged this great shot of the Milky Way in panoramic form. I hope you enjoy!

Found this Great Horned Owl right here in Colorado Springs near the Bluestem Praire Open Space. I have been trying to find this beautiful lady for quite some time, and finally got a tip from my mom on where she was hanging out. She had a few babies in the nest with her and you can even make out the cracked egg!

Shot with a D800, 300 f/4 + 1.4 TC.

Here's a shot from my vacation to Kauai last year - I never did process this one, not sure why haha. The Milky Way is seen over the Pacific Ocean and the clouds are streaking overhead as well =)

Sunset from Bluestem Praire Open Space in Colorado Springs. Sunflare through a yucca seed pod. I just love this spot - a hidden gem. I saw lots of hawks, a bald eagle, praire dogs and antelope. Can you spot the praire dog skull? =)

Tonight I decided to stop by the Bluestem Praire Open Space here in Colorado Springs to look for red-tailed hawks and some antelope for my 365 project. I found both, but was unable to get shots of them. I had to settle on this landscape shot of a yucca plant and Pikes Peak at sunset. =)

One of my first shots I took today with my new Nikkor 300mm f/4 D lens and the Nikon TC 1.4. Great combo! This is a Northern Flicker just down the street from my house at the park.
