Atlas - Topside 3/4

It's SPACE, but smaller than my usual. Here we go, an excercise in using as many little tyres as I could. 76 of them, to be exact. And I still have some left!

Well, there's more to this build than tyres. I wanted to do a flattened hexagonal shape like all the cool microspace builders do, and somewhere along the line I got the idea in my head to have a massive gravity-producing ring thing like that ship in BSG.

All in all, I'm rather pleased with this. There are a few niggles, like my not having enough of the angled technic connecters in black, hence the use of tan and yellow in there too. Also, there's some weirdness going on near the cargo bays and just above. It's crazily fragile around there too, but for the most part the rest of the ship is quite solid, except on the axle near the back.

But anyway, that's what I think. What do YOU think? Enjoy.

It's been a while since I used yellow. This started off as a UNSC-inspired grey spaceship, but then I got bored of dark bley and needed to add a secondary colour to make things a bit brighter.

The cockpit was the first bit to get done, but there were a few hours when I was building out and backwards and I had no idea where I was going. Then I added the long slopes on the back and put the whole cockpit on an angle.

So yeah, rather pleased with this. It looks a bit fat from the side, but I don't mind it so much.

Well, here we go. Space.

Wanted to try something different, and this is the end result, after a week of WIPs. Dodgy angles galore, wonky and flowing. I'm very happy with how it came out.

My inspirations were:
-Space Battleship Yamato (Concept art from a fighter was this colour scheme and even general shape, but that changed as the design evolved.)
-Homeworld (Wonky angles and the general colourscheme.)
-Assorted other builders and concept art floating around the interwebs.

So yeah, tell me what you think.

ADU Hardsuit - 3/4

Inspired by Slushey's challenge, I built a hardsuit. I think it turned out very nicely indeed. There are some issues, like the arms in general, but I don't mind so much.

It started off as an annoying build, but it all came together, especially when I managed to make it stop collapsing.

Ash Ketchum in his Kanto and Johto outfit, with Pikacube perched on his shoulder. This is my first attempt at cubedudes, and I love how they came out, great fun to build.

Legs are a bit odd because I don't have any bricks in sand blue. But I still like it.

Jedi Master Plo Koon is shot down over Cato Neimodia.

16x16 baseplate, small entry.

About 4 studs overhang at the front corner due to swooping ARC-170s, and less than one stud elsewhere with the occasional rock poking out.

Cato Neimodia is a bridge city, so I emulated this by placing the building in between two peaks of a giant mountain poking through the clouds. The bit in the film is just a tighter shot of Koon crashing into the building, so my portrayal is accurate in that sense.

My latest creation, a VOAT. I only have the middle part of the cockpit in Tr-Neon Green, so I went with the little-loved theme from the mid-late 90s. I've been wanting to use those saucer pieces somehow for ages anyway. Comments and stuff welcomed!

Inspired by FBTB's Chibi Fighter contest, and my recent playthrough of SW: TFU, I built this. It may or may not be my final entry to the contest, as I have a few other ideas I want to work on first. Still, I absolutely love how this turned out.

It wasn't without its challenges, like the wings. And the body. And cramming a fig into the cockpit. But it was a very enjoyable build.

In the future, moon rovers are black and tan, with a teal stripe. No idea why.

That tread design has been lying on my desk for about a week, so I used it. Not really much more to it than that, just a quick evening build. And then another evening build for the diorama.

Short for "perseverence". Kinda. Started off as a desire to use the tractor/digger windscreen pieces for something. Started off as red, then blue, then white with green stripes. I considered scrapping this project so many times, but I wanted to use the cockpit design for something.

Eventually, inspiration struck and I moved the cockpit from the theoretical front of the ship to the middle. Everything else came together in about 5-6ish hours. Epic one-day build, and I love how it looks.

Not much more than a tablescrap really, most of the time was spent fiddling around with the technic rear. It was inspired by the front wedge, which is from one of the first wave Tiny Turbo sets.

Yay, I built Star Wars for the first time in a very long time. May be used in an upcoming vig, if I can pull it together to my satisfaction.

And yay for car doors. So many uses besides facilitating the ingress and egress of people.

Another snubfighter, named because it looks like an arrowhead. Stating the obvious perhaps.

The C1 sickle is a light strike fighter that makes up in maneuverability and blistering speed what it lacks in firepower

Built for challenge 1 of the Starfighters group.

The C1-AA Snubfighter is the coalition's smallest fighter. Sent out in droves against lightly armoured targets, the C1-AA sports 4 blasters, which are rather weak. The shields aren't much better either.

Bigger brother to the Platypus scout fighter. I'm using the same basic aesthetics (angular, mostly SNOTted, two tone) but in different colours for fun.

This was a fun build, spawned by my stressing the cockpits and thinking it could make for a cool configuration. One unfun thing: the wings fall off at the drop of a hat.
