Modestep is a live electronic rock band from London that formed in 2010. Their debut album Evolution Theory was released on February 11, 2013, including its four singles: "Feel Good", "Sunlight", "To the Stars" and "Show Me a Sign".Brothers Tony and Josh Friend have individually been DJing since 2001, only forming the band in 2010 with Josh's roommate Matthew Curtis and more recently guitarist Nick Tsang. They started off performing dubstep with soulful vocals from Josh but have since gradually incorporated rock elements into their music, most notably in "To The Stars" and "Time"Modestep began work on their debut album during early January 2011, with their debut single "Feel Good" being released in the United Kingdom on 6 February 2011; managing to reach the BBC Radio 1 A Playlist during the weeks prior to release.[citation needed] The single was released as part of a 3-track extended play, including another track entitled "Bite The Hand". On 13 February, the single debuted at number 38 on the UK Singles Chart,[1] also reaching number 5 on the independent releases chart[2] and number 6 on the dance releases chart.[3] The music video of the new version of their single "Sunlight" was released on YouTube on the 3 July, passing 1 million views within four days, also making the Radio 1 A-list and debuting at number 16 in the UK charts. Another track, "To The Stars" has also made it onto the Radio 1 A-list and was released on 6 November. Their latest track "Show Me A Sign" made its YouTube debut on 19 March 2012 and will be released on 6 May 2012. They are the support act for Lostprophets Weapons tour 2012 and have been received extremely well by audiences.[4] In July 2012, the fifth single from Evolution Theory, entitled "Another Day", was aired on BBC Radio 1Xtra. Modestep had previously performed this song to open their set when supporting Lostprophets on their spring UK tour. Just before the song was aired, Tony Friend revealed in an interview that Modestep hope to release their new album on September 3, 2012. After the album was pushed back to January 14, 2013, it was pushed back yet again to February 11, 2013.Modestep played at the Bedroom Jam stage at Download Festival 2011. Modestep played at Wireless Festival in Hyde Park, London, on Saturday 2 July 2011. Modestep performed in the Dance Hall at the Pukkelpop festival, Belgium on Thursday 18 August 2011. Shortly after their performance, the festival was canceled due a heavy rainstorm, large hail and a windspeed of 170 km/h (106 mph). Modestep performed at NASS 2011, and headlined the main stage at NASS Festival 2012 on Saturday 7 July 2012. Modestep headlined the main stage at Redfest 2012 on Friday 20 July 2012. Modestep performed in the Dance Hall at the Pukkelpop festival, Belgium on the Friday, 16 August 2012 Modestep played on the Dance Stage at Reading and Leeds Festival on the 25th and 26 August 2012. Modestep played at Chicagos North Coast Music Festival September 2, 2012. Modestep were one of the headliners at Grape Festival 2012 Piestany Slovakia on Saturday 11 August 2012. In addition to this, Modestep also played at the national Australian festival Parklife. As of 2013 Modestep have announced they are playing at both Coachella & Ultra Music Festivals as part of their first ever North American tour in March & April.

Their sound has various musical styles and sounds as they have incorporated electronical elements such as dubstep and drum & bass, however they have also incorporated hard rock into their style, thus giving them a unique style. Josh Friend (the singer) has also incorporated vocals into their music.[citation needed]

They have been placed next to bands such as Pendulum and The Prodigy due to their musical style, however they are able to play along with other artists such as The Script, Skrillex, Ed Sheeran and Flux Pavilion.[5] In an interview with Soundsphere Magazine, the members explained that "We’re all massive ‘tech-head’ musicians...". It is explained that Matthew brings in heavier metal elements into their music, while Nick is into Blues music, Tony with his soul music and Josh tends to be a fan of all genres of music. They also explained that it wasn't their intention to sound like they currently do, it just happened.

I made a couple of simple mistakes with respect to the perspective when shooting this, still, I loved the image too much to let it slide (;

This was the setting of Celine Dion's December 17, 1994 wedding to René Angélil.

Notre-Dame Basilica (French: Basilique Notre-Dame de Montréal) is a basilica in the historic district of Old Montreal, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The church is located at 110 Notre-Dame Street West, at the corner of Saint Sulpice Street. It is located next to the Saint-Sulpice Seminary and faces the Place d'Armes square.

The church's Gothic Revival architecture is among the most dramatic in the world; its interior is grand and colourful, its ceiling is coloured deep blue and decorated with golden stars, and the rest of the sanctuary is a polychrome of blues, azures, reds, purples, silver, and gold. It is filled with hundreds of intricate wooden carvings and several religious statues. Unusual for a church, the stained glass windows along the walls of the sanctuary do not depict biblical scenes, but rather scenes from the religious history of Montreal. It also has a Casavant Frères pipe organ, dated 1891, which comprises four keyboards, 92 stops using electropneumatic action and an adjustable combination system, 7000 individual pipes and a pedal board

In 1657, the Roman Catholic Sulpician Order arrived in Ville-Marie, now known as Montreal; six years later the seigneury of the island was vested in them. They ruled until 1840. The parish they founded was dedicated to the Holy Name of Mary, and the parish church of Notre-Dame was built on the site in 1672.

François Baillairgé, an architect, designed the interior decoration and choir 1785-95; facade & vault decoration, 1818.[3]

The church served as the first cathedral of the Diocese of Montreal from 1821 to 1822.[4]

By 1824 the congregation had completely outgrown the church, and James O'Donnell, an Irish-American Protestant from New York, was commissioned to design the new building. O'Donnell was a proponent of the Gothic Revival architectural movement, and designed the church as such. He is the only person buried in the church's crypt. O'Donnell converted to Catholicism on his deathbed perhaps due to the realization that he might not be allowed to be buried in his church.[5]

The main construction work took place between 1824 and 1829. The cornerstone was laid at Place d"Armes on September 1, 1824. The sanctuary was finished in 1830, and the first tower in 1841, the second in 1843. On its completion, the church was the largest in North America. It remained the largest in North America for over fifty years.[6] A new pipe organ was built in 1858 by Samuel Russell Warren.

The interior took much longer, and Victor Bourgeau, who also worked on Montreal's Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral, worked on it from 1872 to 1879. Stonemason John Redpath was a major participant in the construction of the Basilica.

Because of the splendour and grand scale of the church, a more intimate chapel, Chapelle du Sacré-Cœur (Chapel of the Sacred Heart), was built behind it, along with some offices and a sacristy. It was completed in 1888. In 1886 Casavant Frères began building a new 32-foot pipe organ at the church, completing it in 1891. It was notably the first organ with adjustable-combination pedals to be operated by electricity.

Arson destroyed the Sacré-Cœur Chapel on December 7, 1978. It was rebuilt with the first two levels being reproduced from old drawings and photographs, with modern vaulting and reredos and an immense bronze altarpiece by Quebec sculptor Charles Daudelin.

Notre-Dame Church was raised to the status of basilica by Pope John Paul II during a visit to the city on April 21, 1982. The Notre-Dame Roman Catholic Church was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1989.[7][8] The Gothic Revival style Basilica is a Montréal landmark, 1823-29.[9]

On May 31, 2000 the provincial state funeral for former Montreal Canadiens superstar Maurice "Rocket" Richard was held in front of thousands, both inside and outside the Basilica.

On October 3, 2000 Justin Trudeau gave his eulogy just steps from the High Altar during the state funeral of Pierre Trudeau, his father and Canada's 15th prime minister.[10]

It was also the setting of Celine Dion's December 17, 1994 wedding to René Angélil.

The basilica offers musical programming of choral and organ performances. It is a tradition among many Montrealers to attend the annual performance of Handel's Messiah every December at Christmas.

The basilica now charges a $6.00 entry fee for visitors, unless they are there to attend mass. "And Then There Was Light," a sound and light show detailing the history of the church, is also offered in the evening, Tuesday through Saturday (tickets are $10 for adults [18+], $9 for seniors, and $5 for children and young adults).

The closest metro station is Place-d'Armes.

It was 42-c out side when I shot this image, the hotel was 10-c at the bar where I took this semi panorama. This image is composed of 156 (24.4mp) images...
