Defense Mine Road

Our first adventure in Death Valley this year was a drive up to the Defense Mine, located in the Argus Range just west of the park. The Defense Mine was a Galena mine (Galena is the primary ore of lead), and dates back to the 1930s.

The road up starts out looking like this, but quickly deteriorates into a challenging 4WD route.

Curt shot some video. Perhaps he'll upload it.

The shingles were put on almost 20 years ago and had sustained wind damage several times. They were looking pretty bad, so we decided to replace them. Hoping to put down 15 square of roofing tomorrow.
