Miguel will be recognisable to some for his work with CNN and ABC News, for whom he frequently reported from Iraq and was nominated for an Emmy award. It was a pleasure to show him some of the sights of Glasgow during his visit here.

In an arrangement that reminded me of that sitcom, the cinematographer Chris Doyle, director Stewart Laing and choreographer Ian Spink relax at the opening party of the Glasgow Film Festival. In one article that reviewed the event, I was flattered to be described as an "unruly youth."

The Salon Project Revisited

The Salon Project, described by The Scotsman as "one of the most complete immersive theatre experience ever conceived", has just finished its run at The Citizens Theatre in Glasgow. I've been left quite drained by working in the Salon every night of its run along with juggling other projects, not to mention the obligatory post-show drinking that comes with working with a group of people who are friends as well as colleagues (how easily a pint or two in the foyer of the Citz becomes five or six pints somewhere else, and ends up with a cheeseburger at McDonalds at 3am…)

I'm excited about the next stop for The Salon Project, though: The Barbican in London, where there will be ten performances as part of Spill Festival.

My work on The Salon Project has been collected together in this set.

Wishing that gorgeous sunset was warm enough to go outside to enjoy. This month is set to claim the title of the coldest March for 100 years; a stark contrast with last March, when we rolled around Kelvingrove Park with our tops off.

If You Had The Chance

I was approached by The National Theatre of Scotland to shoot the promotional image for their upcoming co-production with The National Theatre of China: three world premieres by contemporary Chinese playwrights. They asked also whether I would model for the image, with my half-Chinese heritage (a Chinese father and Scottish mother) seeming quite apt. Having dusted off the rarely-used tripod, we conducted the shoot under the bridge of Glasgow Central station, in near-freezing temperatures and to the surprise and amusement of passers-by.

That I overcame the technical and personal challenges of shooting this - taken in a moving taxi when I was seeing 35 of everything - is almost as incredible as the fact of its beautiful candour, not being posed or planned at all.
