This is my new favorite color scheme. Much as I love the Mamie Eisenhower pink, it's time to give it a break. This combo of warm gray and buttery yellow was very popular and looks really fresh now. The caption also extols the combination of silver birch trees and marigolds.

Most of the mid century images showed these great windows completely open. This is a rare example of how to handle the curtain/privacy dilemma now that you have neighbors. They look like natural linen to me, which makes perfect sense. Timeless.

Here's my newest favorite kitchen. I love the 50s traditional wallpaper (ceiling too!) juxtaposed with the beautiful aqua St. Charles cabinets. It looks like the wallpaper came in two patterns: with the "tile" and without.

This Calloway wool carpet ad illustrates some of the fusion design elements of the mid-50s. The settee and lamp are modern; the carpet is neutral and patternless. The rest of the room is straight out of the colonial playbook. IMNSHO, this is one of the most interesting design trends of the mid century.
