The CCC-built wall at the Lake of the Clouds overlook in the Porcupine Mountains, at sunset on an early June day. This wall runs along the top of a bare area of the escarpment (right). The area was completely empty while I was there -- and absolutely beautiful.

Hairy woodpecker busy feeding its hungry family. We had fun watching them. Poor momma was a busy girl. The babies screamed the whole time we were there...while we ate lunch even at Seney National Wildlife Refuge.

I love to catch the loons flying. This one was very quiet. Usually they do the tremolo call when flying. Flying over G Pool. Note the white band on the right leg...Seney National Wildlife Refuge

Momma Blaze and her Quads!!!

We are sooooooooo excited that we just had to share this photo from our bear blind along the tracks of the Toonerville.
Momma Blaze has not one....not two...not three.....but FOUR CUBS!!!!!!!!! I think this is a first for the Toonerville...will have to check with Dixie later today.
It should be an awesome summer for bear sightings. Momma Blaze is know to bring her cubs out to show off for the train!!!!
We will keep you post next Monday.
Remember the Tahquamenon Falls Riverboat/Toonerville Trolley's first run is Saturday June 15th!!!

Here is a photo of little Cissy, the C in the ABC cubs from last year. She is my favorite of this set of triplets like Shadow is my favorite of the triplets from 2 years ago. Momma Bella recently kicked them out so they are on their own. It was fun to see them all...cautiously come together to eat treats at our blind Sunday.

As much as I love photographing the black bears along the tracks of the Toonerville Trolley...I also love be able to get up close and personal to the beautiful gentle sandhill cranes. It was sighting one of these over 12 years ago in the U.P. that truly was the reason we started doing wildlife photography.
