I do not think this eagle cares too much for the new way Flickr is working ... the photos are presented nicer, but it is much harder to see what is being said about the photo, and what EXIF data there is, and even where the map is for the photo being taken ... what were they thinking.

I'm lucky that there is a Bald Eagle nest 10 minutes from where I live. It is on Maryland state owned property...no trespassing. I have been given access to the nest and Maryland will have access to my photos.

From this angle and the lighting in the middle of the day, the river water really looks soupy color ... time to make some duck soup :)

Despite the time of day, the lighting on this male duck looked pretty good for this shot.

Red-Spotted Newts Courting

Red-spotted Newts (Notophthalmus viridescens viridescens). This is the courtship stage where the male is holding the female around her neck with his back legs. At the same time he strokes her face with his own snout and front legs while he waves pheromones into her nostrils using his tail. This may continue for several hours. If she approves of him she will stimulate him to release a sperm packet which she will then take inside of her. Peeper Pond, Catoctin Mountains, Maryland. This video is best viewed in HD at full screen.
