The only way to get from Brentford to Wembley for a big day out is on one of London's famous Big Red Buses and the only Big Red Bus to travel on in style is the Routemaster. The Griffin Pub in Brentford arranged this 'Transport of Delight' for its regular customers so we stuck our hand out at a 'request' stop and hopped on, for all the good it did us as we lost our 6th major final in 16 years. The Oxford English Dictionary's up-dated definition of 'Long-Suffering is now 'Brentford FC Fan' sadly.

The wife, my son and his girlfriend pose in front of a London icon prior to our departure for the Great White Arch. I don't know why I put this picture up other than I quite liked the look of it. Very modern and avant garde. Completely out of place at Wembley Stadium.

My son, his girlfriend and his friend all smiles before the disappointment later in the day after Brentford lost their 3rd Play-Off final in 16 years. I have no idea why we put ourselves through the torment year after year but somehow we carry on regardless.

This is Swindon Bee who travelled up from Griffin Park on the same big red London Bus as us. I thought she was a beautiful woman not just for her looks but the fact that she was always smiling. I think we are near contemporaries as I seem to recall having a perm like this in the late 1970's. Something to do with Kevin Keegan. I have to say it looks a lot better on her than it did on me but, hey, I was young and foolish. I can only manage silly old fool now.
Anyway trust me to get my candid shot of her as she was engrossed in the Programme. Six Flaming Quid for a programme, I ask you. You know before you buy it that it will only get opened if we win. I have six Final Programmes at home now all unopened and in pristine condition, not a happy memory amongst them.
I do hope to meet her again next season at one of the home games.

She thinks it's all over but it's not. I'm sure she will delighted to know we have tickets for both the Final at Wembley against Yeovil Town and for the Big Red London Bus the club has hired to ferry the select few who wanted to go on it. Hey! It's a day-out so may as well make the most of it especially as it's hard to believe we will have a better result than in the 5 previous Finals and 6 previous Play-Off campaigns. For all that I am more confident this year than ever before. As we are saying around the ground this year.... BEE-Lieve.

I have no idea why this young lady is celebrating our victory over Swindon Town in the Division 1 Play-Off Semi-Final by posing for pictures with a replica of the old European Cup on her head but, hey, who cares. The jobs not done yet but after the trauma of the game against Doncaster Rovers a Penalty Shoot-Out victory is well worth being happy about. I hope to see her again celebrating on Sunday evening after beating Yeovil Town in the Final. History suggests we will screw it up yet again but this time, although nervous, I am confident we will do it. Anyway let's hope she gets to take her baby to a Championship game next season. Lovely smile btw.

Don't panic it's Only Me! Still not sure I believe I saw Brentford win a major Penalty Shoot-Out. I've seen us win ones in the Mickey Mouse Trophy semi-finals but not a really important one before. I'm obviously not alone in my disbelief for, as you can see, most of the Ealing Road stand joined in the celebration.
Come on you Bees now win a final at Wembley against Yeovil Town. 'The Independent' tells me that the game is worth £3.1 million to the winners mainly from increased ticket sales and sponsorship. We want some of that.
