Silk jaquard taffeta, very hard to dye. The jaquard design is ginko leaves. Alum mordant ,dyed with dolu, then stitched and bound, maki-age.

straight up makiage on bright orange fabric, the motif was stitched and pulled bound then dyed red on the bound bits and the background was dipped in green

Tela shibori has added a photo to the pool:

Stitched and bound (maki-age) Shibori. Black cotton fabric (Country Classic from JoAnns) discharged by simmering in thiox. "Fat eighth" yard piece. This is one of two almost identical pieces made by folding a larger piece of fabric in half and stitching through both layers of fabric.

the holes happened not when removing the threads but when gathering them tight. the bottom of the triangle is where the knot was. guess the T-shirt is a bit old and frail... i must say i kind of like them, though.

i dyed it black because it was the only cotton dye i had on hand. the 'vertebrae' were floating a bit disconnectedly and i couldn't resist joining them with a red 'lifeline'.

Linen & Rayon blend hand dyed in indigo.
Techniques: " maki-age, ori nui" and "hira nui shibori"
The motif is "Sakura" - Cherry Blossoms.

This is the result, I think it does capture some of the texture and the complexity found in thickets of winter branches

Maki-Age shibori piece for Flickr Maki-Age Shibori Challenge. Procion dye on cotton cloth.

Alternate orientation

Resisted piece ready for final dyeing

The cloth was stitched using one or two rows of straight stitch (ori-nui). White-resisted areas were tied and wrapped, then the piece was dyed light blue. The light blue areas were then tied and wrapped and the piece was dyed dark blue. Origiinal design inspired by an islamic tile motif of interlocking squares that form an 8-pointed star.

Cotton fabric dyed with Procion dye: entire piece stitched, then areas to be resisted white were tied and bound, piece was dyed lavender, then rest of stitches were tied and petals were bound, piece dyed dark purple. Original design.
