Color Shift using RadioPoppers?

gog_photo posted a new topic:

Hi all,

I have the radiopopper PX system.

When I use the ST-E2 as a master to control the PX Transmitter the color of my flash shots turn very blue at any speed above 1/2000.

I have everything set at HSS, and my color balance is set to Flash on the camera menu.

When I use the ST-E2 alone I do not get the color shift.

Anyone else experience this?

Thanks

Reply to Canon Speedlites - What's most confusing?

Ratios are not user friendly. Exactly how much power IS going to each flash unit? Also, controlling the power of group C is confusing. It's as if group C was an after thought, added in because they forgot it at first.

Also Syl, an idea for your book:

After seeing a post on speedliting.com, I've just been onto the Canon site and downloaded the very useful little tri-fold booklet of basic info. (http://www.usa.canon.com/dlc/control...articleID=3466)

I think they've missed a trick as when I folded it up I was surprised / annoyed to find it doesn't fit in the flash case.

Perhaps with your book you could add this (laminated?) that'll slide inside the flash case nicely so you don't lose it so easily and can refer to it for some of the most common functions?

Syl, I'd want more info on the best way to get multiple units - of different spec (eg a 580EXii and a 540EZ) to talk to each other. Which one to use as master and why, drawbacks and advantages.

Also, different lightshapes/effects from different modifiers, with how much power they eat. I still get confused as to which modifier to use and when (eg a softbox or a shoot through brolly or a reflector brolly or something else). Maybe same shot with different modifiers applied to really show the differences? Could throw some gels on there too...

And a thousand other things too!
I'm really looking forward to the book, and hoping that you're still planning to visit the UK this year.

I'm totally confused Syl, but the thing I'm having problems with now is getting the manual power out of my flashes like I want.

I'm using a 40D with a long flash cord to my 580ex ii as Master, in manual mode, and using that to fire my 430ex also in manual mode. But I can't seem to get the settings right. No mater how far I turn down the 430, it keeps over-powering the 580.

I have only had the 580 a couple of weeks, and although I've had the 430 for several months, I'm just recently trying to move them off the camera.

Do you perhaps have a step by step tutorial on pixSylated or SpeedLiting?

davidziser posted a reply:

Hi Syl,

Thanks for the "head's up."

Just a note to Tim and Pamela. In setting up the tour promotion, I wanted to be sure that all those who registered and did not want to be made aware of our sponsors specials offers could opt out easily.

The opt out check box appeared on every email that went out. Not only that, but there was also an opt out check box on the registration page.

We reviewd each city listing and diligently removed anyone requesting the opt out - although over 99% did not. We only forwarded the opt-ins to the sponsors honoring our attendess requests.

I'm on the same DWUC list and do not feel I'm getting an inordinate amount of mail from my sponsors. Some of the offers, by the way, are great deals.

Tim and Pam, if you would like me personally to contact my sponsors - please let me know who you are get the offeres from - I will ask to have your names removed. just drop me a line at david@ziser.com. I will be sure it will be taken care of.

Pamela and Tim, I wanted the tour to be the most value packed seminar of the year. We gave away over $500, 000 - 1/2 million dollars - of door prizes, welcome packet goodies, Tour CD,s and more. I hope you both enjoyed the program

Sincerely, David
