I've noticed that not all hair elastics are equal in quality! i bought a big bag at dollar tree, and some of them were already losing their stretch.

hi colleen,
i've always used ribbons or hair elastics, but since yours have worn out so much, i have a suggestion ::
*take a few inches of 3/8" seam binding and edgestitch the sides closed with a 1/8" seam allowance.
*the feed some 1/4" elastic through it and use that elasticized seam binding as your closure with a button.
*you could form a loop to wrap around the button (like on the Child's Coloring Wallet);
*or you could also leave it long and wrap it around the button as pictured in the List-Taker pattern.
hope this helps - sorry it took me a week to respond!
xoxo

colleenflickr2008 posted a new topic:

Hi. I have been making some list takers with elastic hair ties. But after a little while...maybe because I use mine so much..the hair tie starts to break. My first List Taker I made with a small ribbon but that didn't hold up for long..started to break off at the point where you sew it in. Has anyone used a type of ribbon or elastic that seems to hold up really well.

Thanks!
