My name is Jenny and I have been working with colored pencils since I was in high school. I work with other things but colored pencil is my specialty. I am an art teacher. Can't wait to share and see others artwork.

i have a big problem when it comes to travelling light and taking only a few colours when sketching out of doors. Does anyone else share this problem and what are some great colour choices for say 8 pencils..not primary...that i can take with me? cheers, donna

Hi all, my name is Peter. I would never think of myself as an artist or illustrator. I'm an architect, so I guess I draft. If I am not drafting my projects, I'm recording my travels and my home. Yes, my sketches can have that drafted look but I do try and give the place I'm drawing a bit more. I try to get away from that static lifeless feel when the architect in me has this compulsion to draw everything accurately.

Hi folks - My name is Ron Lightburn and I have been using colored pencils for the past 48 years to create my artwork. When I was in elementary school I created my own comic books that I sold to my classmates for five cents. (I have posted examples of these for you to see). This was the start of my journey as an artist. In my adult life I have been fortunate to have an award winning career as an illustrator and gallery artist. I use oil and acrylic paints for some projects, but many of my illustrations and gallery pieces have been created with colored pencils. The children's books I have illustrated with colored pencils include "Waiting for the Whales", "Eagle Dreams", "How Smudge Came" and "Driftwood Cove". In 1990 I was honoured to have one of my magazine illustrations ("Beer Belly") selected by the Society of Illustrators in New York for inclusion in the exhibition and book "Illustrators 33". My work has also been featured in the books "The Best of Colored Pencil" and "The Best of Colored Pencil 2". For most of my drawings I use Derwent pencils on Canson or T.H. Saunders CP papers. I love the control and detail that colored pencils provide, BUT, it can take forever to fill a large area of the paper with pencil strokes! (That is why I sometimes use the color of the Canson paper as part of the image.) Thank you for letting me share my work with you!
