I believe that is the old Dennsion paper company. Latter Dennsion was merged into Rock Tenn corp. and eventually they closed the plant. The Rock Tenn sign is still on the property. On the 40 st corner is a new Burger King, Directly behind the lot is the Greater Chicago Food Depository, And most recently there is a " Ross for Less coming soon" sign on the 42nd Corner of the property

This was part of a large building complex on S. Pulaski (approx. 4000 South) that was demolished 2003 or 2004, but the tower was left standing until late 2005 or so. You can see the building and tower in this 2002 aerial photo:

Of course, identifying where/what (beyond "near west side" or "North Ave") would be helpful. Context -- without it, "history" is just old mold and dust.

There's no doubt I suspect all remaining exterior signage on this building is all going to go, soon. Went by it on yesterday morning, after noticing while traveling on Peterson Friday night that the Chevrolet letters had been removed. I NEVER thought I'd finally see this day, but I guess I should've seen this coming, after Silent Obscurity messaged me a little while ago that the neon tubes on the yellow part of that sign had been removed.
