The London Eye

Help from fellow London Eye fans!

Hi! I took my first trip to London in February of this year and i fell in love with everything about that city. When i got home, it took me months to go through all the photos I had taken and cull it down to a group of photos that most people would not fall asleep when presented with. One of my favorite photos from my trip is the one i submitted to this group, of a couple in the London Eye, caught up in the moment.

I submitted the photo to a travel photography contest and was chosen to move the to final round. The only drawback is that the final round is completely vote based, and I dont really have a large group of people on facebook.

If anyone here who appreciates the photo would be willing to go to Facebook and vote on it for me I would be forever grateful. I've never entered a photo contest before, and more importantly, if I won this (I'm currently in the top three, but starting to trail) I would be able to buy my new camera to keep trying to get better.

I went on it last night, and had a capsule all to myself (the ones either side were empty). It felt very strange being up there alone.

I've now been on it 5 times. The last time I went to take my 3 year old to the London Aquarium which is nearby and she asked to go the eye, so we did that. She had only been on it a few weeks earlier in the early evening.

As i live near it and have a Merlin pass i go on it about 2 or 3 times a week :-)

Once. And that was on Saturday evening at 8.40 (June 2010). A camera in one hand and a glass of Pimms in the other. Only 8 of us in the pod. What a brilliant experiance :)

Twice. First time on the first day it opened to the general public in March 2000. The second in 2007 for my mums birthday, we took the river trip as well on that occasion. I keep promising to take my other half, so maybe I should make visit number 3 soon.

I would say book online in advance to avoid queues. The river trip which can be purchased with the flight is also very good, it goes down stream to Tower Bridge.

Three times so far.. and as a hint book your tickets online in advance There is never a queue at the machines to collect the tickets whereas you often have to wait ages to buy them at the counters!
