Please consider using CC rather than copyright. A number of people have complained that they would like to use photos here but can't because they are copyrighted and the owner doesn't respond to messages.

By using Creative Commons you allow others to use your work in certain circumstance for specific purposes. This helps you get the word out about your struggle.

You can create a creative commons license on Flickr for your image at the uploaded size but still retain copyright on your original full sized image I believe.

I'm not a lawyer but I allow websize photos to be creative commons and shared on various sites and don't think I lose out financially by doing so.

I have just joined this group and look forward to posting lots of my photographs here. I understand your request for members to use creative commons but my work is copyright and I don't intend to change that.
I have given permission to use my work many times and will continue to do so free of charge to most organisations and individuals who credit me.
I hope you will respect my decision on this issue.

With what's happening in the Middle East and in the USA we're getting lots of requests for photos and questions about how they can be used. Unless it is your deliberate plan to charge for your work (which is fine, but not what most of us are here for) please set your defaults to a Creative Commons license option rather than copyrighting all your work.

The former, depending on what version you use, can make it clear that unions and other non-profits are free to use your work as long as they credit you. Copyright requires that your explicit permission be obtained, something that can take a while and which might result in a decisoin NOT to use your work.
