Wow, what a shame nobody has commented on this since you posted it... I just happened upon it today.

I have not done a lot of hiking around Mount Rainier, but have crossed paths with the Wonderland Trail in a couple places. Even without planning a full loop (which I would love to do) I see a LOT of wonderful information in here. It's great that you pulled all of this information together to share in one place. I've bookmarked it and will be returning to it.

I recently put together a web guide to backpacking the 150 km Wonderland Trail around Mount Rainier. It is pretty much a book with thirteen years' worth of my Wonderland Trail photographs in addition to an extensive trail description and articles on everything from ultralight backpacking to meal preparation. Check it out if you're bored or considering a trip on the Wonderland. I'd love to hear some feedback from experienced Wonderland Trail backpackers. Thanks!

My most recent Rainier summit was Liberty Ridge 2 years ago. My advice: hit it early and hit it fast! That rockfall up to Thumb Rock turns the mountain into a shooting gallery!

What started off as crystal clear weather day on 1, quickly turned to 4 days of battling whiteouts and 60mph+ winds. By the time we began the actual ice climb near Liberty Cap, we were pretty drained. But we made it up and over. Most memorable part was rapping down into a crevasse in to get out of the storm. That was the best night's sleep I had on that entire trip!!

The first time I snowshoed was very memorable. I have done many summer hikes but had never been to the park in the winter. It was soooo beautiful with heavy snow on everything. There are few people and such peace and quiet. It was an incredible experience.
