Medium Format

120 (or 220…) film photography.
No other posting rule. :)

NO DIGITAL.

The images may have been scanned from the negative or from a print, manipulated digitally, taken with a Hasselblad, a Holga, a pinhole camera, a re-spooled 620 camera, whatever, the only important thing is: 120 or 220 film.

NO DIGITAL.

And yes you can "flood" the pool if you want! ;)

Yes Fuji GA. Was available with different lenses, Zoom or wide angle. Rollei 6008 AF or Hy6 if you need 6x6.

Fuji GA for travel would be a good bet if you can do 645.

I did not realise that the H system were 645.....

...... I just think that you get so much more choice if you drop the AF requirement.... I mean others might disagree with me but AF Medium Format cameras are pretty clunky with it anyway (more like 1990's 35mm AF lenses) and the autofocus lenses are absolutely massively expensive....

Seriously! Though maybe the Leaf branded kit would burst into flame if you mounted a film magazine onto it. IDK. The film version is the Rollei Hy6, which I guess is a little different from the 6008 AF. Regardless, that's still pretty rarified air.

loose.tooth posted a reply:

Hmmm Rollei's are hardly compact...

I think that you have some fairly divergent requirements.... in the world of Medium Format cameras AF only really exists on cameras that I would not think of as "compact".... the Rollei, Hasselblad H System and the later Mamiya 645... I mean they are not the bulkiest, but they are not so compact either.

Also a truly compact camera will not have interchangeable lenses but you do not really mention this.....

I would, if I were you ditch the autofocus requirement and look to the folding cameras.... so the Voigtlander Bessa III/Fujica GF670.... the Plaubel Makina.

I mean another thing that you did not mention is budget.... the above cameras are 6x7 (although the Bessa/GF670 can be switched from 6x7 to 6x6) and are the best part of £1000. They are also all rangefinders (again you do not specify SLR/RF).

If budget is an issue then consider a vintage camera. Balda Super Baldax, Super Ikonta etc.... these can be gotten for £100-350 depending on age, use and which camera model. They can all be gotten in 6x6 and fit in the pocket.... then again they are not so different from your Moskva, so I am sure you have already thought of and discounted....

To answer the question as set (6x6, compact but not light, AF) it is the Hasselblad H system or the Rollei 6008 AF (the Mamiya gets chucked for being 645) but these cameras really stretch what I would think of as "compact".

Hi!

I shoot Hasselblad 500CM 95% of the time and Moskva-5 RF 5%.
I am about to go on the road and I would like a MF camera that is compact, not neceserally light, but 6X6 and has AF. Is there such a camera?

Thanks!
