It would be helpful to the administration of our group if you supplied some examples of photographs that you consider inappropriate so that we all could discuss them. Thank you.

Photographs of paintings

Robert in Toronto posted a new topic:

This group is devoted to PHOTOGRAPHIC impressionism--ie,., photographs that utilize impressionistic techniques that, in some cases, draw upon approaches to the representation of reality that was or is utiized by impressionistic painters, past and present. Photographs that document impressionistic paintings, no matter how interesting the paintings might be, are not in keeping with our emphasis on photographic technique. Members interested in viewing impressionism in painted work by artists such as Manet, Monet, Gauguin, Renoir etc. can easily find this work elsewhere on Flickr and in other online sites, notably those of museums such as the Musée D Orsay in Paris. Photos of contemporary paintings by artists engaged in impressionistic representation will only be posted if the photograph itself demonstrates impressionistic technique. In other words, examples of impressionism in painting, sculpture, textiles etc. will only be considered if the photograph of the subject is itself impressionistic.

i don't see why it should'nt...impressionism means literally "carrying feelings" and anything creating an emotion is relevant and for years, B&W has been the only media and some of the world best known pictures are B&W

I've always felt that impressionism is a form of painting or photography that gives the impression of the item painted/photographed. Many of my photographs are simple flipped reflections from water that give the impression of the actual image.
Example:
