I got my K2 a year or two ago and it came with the 35-105mm, which he (the person who I bought it from) said was more of a beginner lens. Which lens do suggest I get next? What are your favorite lenses to use with the K2?

You wouldn't be able to use the EF-S lens on the T2, but you could use the EF lens that fit on the T2 on you XSi DSLR. I own a T2i and I quite often will use my EF 28-90mm kit lens from my K2 film camera on my T2i. All the contacts on the EF lens line up with the contacts on the DSLR body, and the lens functions as it should.

I also own an EOS Rebel K2. I currently started shooting with it again since I'm in a black and white film photography class. They are great cameras. My only bit of advice is to be careful when focusing. The EF 28-90mm kit lens tends to be a bit "sloppy" when manually focusing it. The lens is just really touchy compared to other Canon lens I own. In auto focus mode it focuses nice and tight. The lens is a very sharp lens when it is in focus. If you do like using it, you might want to look into a lens hood for the lens. The lens tends to get alot of glare since the front lens is so convex. Overall the camera is an amazing film camera. You got it for a great price! I bought mine brand new in the early 2000's for about $250 in a kit with the EF 28-90mm lens. Hope you enjoy using it!

I just purchased a Canon Rebel EOS K2 with EF 28-90mm lens for $25.00. Its in great condition and everything seems to work well. Running a roll of film through it now. Can't wait to see how they turn out and post the photos on the groups site. Any recommendations for a newbie are greatly welcomed.

I often see the body for 20-30 bucks and the body+kit lens for 50 bucks on ebay. I'm thinking of picking up a second body just so I can shoot film and B&W at the same time!

And right next to it was a Diana-F new in the box for $2 but that is for another flickr discussion group!

It's funny that this topic came up. I put my T2 away for a little bit with strong CR2 batteries. I came back to it today (a few months later) and the batteries were dead. I noticed that I had left the pop-up flash up....maybe that had something to do with it.

For what it is worth, I also have the AA battery adapter/grip for the camera. It requires 4 AA batteries and I have gone a year of hard use without having to replace them.

The canon 430 EX II and 580 ex II are both excellent flashes. The 580 is more expensive but has a built in bounce card and high flash power.
