Travel time to the north isn't too bad. There's great rail links which take you right into the centre of Belfast, and unlike years ago when I last did the drive, the road from Dublin to the border is now mostly motorway.
If you do go north of the border, and want some good photo opportunities, be sure to visit Carrickfergus.

I will be traveling to Dublin for business in 4 weeks and I will have the weekend of July 5th and 6th off while there.

Any recommendations for my downtime while in Ireland? What is the travel time like to Northern Ireland?

Guys,
Many of you are already aware that a large proportion of the Norfolk landscape is being proposed as sites for quarries, and if they getthe go ahead, we'll lose a signifigant number of beautiful landscape photography opportunities all over the county.
We ought to get out there now, before the diggers move in and photograph all these sites. Create a sort of photographic museum, so that future generations will be able to see how beautiful and unspoilt the county once was.
The following map shows you what areas are at risk. Basically anywhere that's shaded on the map stands a good chance of disappearing, so those are the places we need to make a photographic record of - while we still can.

Perhaps we ought to set up a Flickr Group to catalogue the "Disappearing Norfolk".

Also, if anyone's interested in helping one of the communities at risk, my own village, Pentney has an active campaign going to save itself from disappearing down a hole in the ground.
We have a website at www.SavePentney.co.uk, and an online petition that we would love people to sign at petitions.pm.gov.uk/Save-Pentney

I am an american who nows has a daughter living in the United Kingdom and have been excited to visit twice now in the nottingham and York areas. I have always loved uK history and was fascinated by my visit. We went to several different areas and I look forward to visiting every year. Any comments or advise on my photos would be appreciated.
