Calling all photographers, foodies and amateur chefs:This month's photo contest theme is "Culinary creations," and we're asking you to show off your culinary skills and tell us the story behind your image. Submit your photos by Wednesday, June 22.

The contest winner will receive a copy of the Best Recipes Ever cookbook, inspired by the CBC TV show, courtesy of the CBC Shop. But to sweeten the pot, they're also throwing in this Best Recipes Ever eco-friendly utensil set!

Unless I'm at home or the rare occasion I have my dslr with me in a restaurant, I use my Canon P&S, a PowerShot SD800 IS. A lot depends on the lighting in the restaurant, which I can't control. I use the digital macro setting, set for the light -- daylight, shade, indoor -- then step it up if I need more light. I tend to use a high ISO because I don't use a tripod and don't want to risk even the slightest movement ruining the shot in what's usually low light.

At home, I can set the dslr on the table a nice distance from the food and then adjust for the light, which is either a lamp or I let in natural light. I usually use a macro lens because I like the effect.
