This is good topic and I use Aperture 3 and Photoshop but still my photos look more digital and when compared to a good quality negative scan to M8 look a bit a more digital for me.

Gavin, I use S efex, a very good software. I don't like lightroom. Sharpness and contrast are ok, as long as the picture remains natural.

I hate over pp.

Cheers!

1. different skin on the shell;
2. sapphire glass on LCD;
3. brightlines in the viewfinder better adjusted to the different lenses;
4. quieter shutter
and no, originally it wasn't offered with a black dot, but all came with a red dot....btw just sold mine and now waiting for the new M to come out in 2013

and the 35mm summicron was IMHO the best standard lens for the M8 and M8.2 - it is a nice small lens when travelling and gives about 47mm focus considering the 1.33 crop factor.

well im usually in for slight HDR . object that are non living things.
like streets, buildings landscape.
for subjects, seldom deploy HDR.
sliver efex can still create softness in the photo that bring out the details.
it very tough job to fine tune the subject especially the face details.
to me M8 works like diamond, need to polish to get nice result..

Gavin Mills Photography posted a new topic:

Just wandered what other people think about sharpening .
Recently I've noticed more and more processing creeping into Leica groups and although I use it on my photos am recently liking the over sharpened look less and less preferring to see more natural shots .

I think used right its a great effect but sometimes it can lose the atmosphere of the photo and all start to look a bit to harsh and effected as well as losing the character that we all love about using Leica M cameras and glass .

I personally try to keep the clarity in lightroom quite close to or on zero and work more with the sharpness and contrast . If its black and white I'll use a bit of structure in silver efex picking out subjects I want where I want to increase the attention .

Would love to hear how some other people work in this area or just to hear people thoughts on the subject .
