Kiwis on Holiday

westcoastshuttle posted a new topic:

Hi from NewZealand, I have just uploaded pics taken during our UK holiday in sept 2008.

The huge Aqueducts, locks and tunnels were rather imprssive considering their construction occured in the early 1800's.

As a means of heavy transport, a horse could transport maybe 1 ton of goods, yet on a canal boat, the same horse could transport 40 tons by towing the barge.

As for a holiday venture, very nice way to see a different part of the country side

Hi
I was thinking of buying and restoring one of these work boats.

Do any of you good people know anything about these boats?

Approx year of construction?
Steel thickness?
Builder?
Draught?
Construction?
Etc?
Etc?

Your opinions and comments would be greatly appreciated.
