I am working with the Director of our local "Art Center" to get some interaction with our Quilt Guild's quilts. I am really getting the feeling that he still believes quilts are functional but not artistic. I think I am going to have to have him come to a "quilt show" with me to "enlighten" him. Grrrr

Hi Everyone! I'm Angeline. I live in California in the Foothills called Gold Country or the Mother Lode. I have been quilting since 2005. I have always done art quilts. I tried to do a large bed quilt but honestly I lost interest in the repetition. So I stick with art quilts. I haven't uploaded any of my newer quilts in a while. Guess I should get to it. I look forward to seeing your projects, everyone is so talented!

It's not absolute if you are trying to protect your photos from theft---and that is defined as being used elsewhere without permission---you can enable the no sharing on your photos, put an "all rights reserved" CC on them but expect to see them uploaded anyways to these sites that encourage copyright infringement if you have put your photos even with these protections in a group.

One member found one of hers used on a flower shop site, i have had one removed from a medical site.

You can watch to some degree by checking the referrer's in your stats section and follow the links. I know there are those who don't give a damn, think it's "PR" and those of us who really care about violations--we as the artists are the ones who get to decide where our art goes, even ON this site that is promoted as a "sharing" site.
The best we can do is police--and add watermarks or copyright notices to the photos. It still doesn't prevent the theft, but at least our names are on the work.

Some of the "board" names on Pinterest are frankly insulting---"Copy this"/"even i could do this"/"Make this"--when i've spent months on my work, it pisses me off that someone thinks they can come along and not only steal my photo, but think they can duplicate my work.

Anytime i see someone else's work, i credit it in the comments if i recognize the artist.

Hi all, I've just found this group and it looks like it's right up my street! I have been quilting for several years, in fact on and off since I was a child and like many people I started with the tradtional but have now evolved into more of an art quilter. I work mostly by machine, love FMQ, fusible applique, mathematic, geometric, optical illusion type designs and have recently ventured into landscape quilting. I exhibit and sell my work locally, I work as a speaker to groups such as the Women's Institute and have recently started teaching workshops. I feel very fortunate to be building a career around my passion!

I look forward to sharing my work and more importantly looking at all of yours! I'm sure I'll find it inspiring.

I'm Judy, in the very edge of northwestern Washington i've quilted for over 60 years, the first half doing traditional quilts, the second half doing art quilts. Now, here at the end, I'm working to find out what sits at the join between the art quilt and the traditional quilt. In a series of (currently) 15 quilts (44"x64" approx.), I'm working out what 'improvisation' (as in jazz) might mean in quilting. you can see them all on my flickr site (judywross)
