Indianapolis Cultural Trail Photo Contests

I want to share information about two photography competitions supporting the Grand Opening of The Indianapolis Culture Trail. The Trail is having a celebration to commemorate its completion.The Grand Opening, titled "Get Down On It", takes place on May 11th.

There are two photo competitions that were created to capture images from the event, as well as landmarks and businesses along the Trail. The competitions are open to all Indianapolis photographers.

On The Trail Photo Scavenger Hunt
The first event (the Photo Scavenger Hunt) takes place over the course of the two-day celebration. It has a social media component to promote the event, as well as businesses and activities along the Trail.

Cultural Trail Weekly Photo Competition
The second event stretches out over weeks following the Grand Opening. Each week, one section of the downtown Trail will be featured in a photo competition. People will upload their images to our Facebook competition page and others will be allowed to vote for the image that best represents that area of the Trail.

We're really excited about getting photographers from all over the city together for this event. It should be great fun and a wonderful way to get Indy photos together to shoot and meet up. Bloomington native. I prefer to shoot mostly nature & local wildlife. Old buildings and farms catch my eye. I will capture people sometimes, but prefer them naturally and not posed.

U.S. Highways, that run thru Indiana, Groups

I am an an originator/adminsitrator for the following US Highway groups that travel across Indiana. US 27, US 31, US 231 & US 136. A Flickr buddy and I also have inherited the US 12, US 20, US 41 and US 421 groups. On top of that I also moderate the US 50 group. These highways travel thru Indiana also. I am encouraging members of this great group to consider joining one or more of these groups and adding some wonderful content. Thanks and hope to see you on one of these highways.

If you are looking for places to do portrait work, Coxhall Gardens in Carmel is nice. Holliday Park in Indy is also a great place to shoot. Downtown Indy along the canal or the Arts and Design District in Carmel, if you prefer urban settings. Another great warm weather spot is Spring Mill State Park down near Mitchell.

I reside in Muncie, was raised in Hawaii and went to school on the East coast. I have been shooting mostly landscapes and will be concentrating on more studio work this cold winter. I'm not a big fan of the snow. Happy shooting to all

Madison, Indiana - moved here from Nebraska but originally from Chicago. We love Madison and all the historic buildings. Lots of things to take pictures of. I am a novice photographer but enjoy it a lot.
