My Trillium pictures are all southern Appalachian species taken in western North Carolina.

Thanks for the suggestion. It seems to be an unusual color form of Trillium erectum, at least that's what we agreed on when I showed the picture to a botanist. I think the proper name is Trillium erectum luteum. Trillium erectum typically looks red around here:

That's interesting about Trilliums not being as protected as we think they are. We have left ours alone for the past 25 years and they have grown remarkably in that time. We started with only a few and now have hundreds. Trilliums are very prolific around here - Warkworth, Ontario.

It's not entirely true about Trillium-picking in Ontario being illegal. I've learned that this is a popular misconception and the truth is a little more nuanced.

I'm having a hard time trying to identify the species for this beauty. Can any of the trillium experts in the group help out? The yellowish petals seem unusual.
