A new Greenpeace report has revealed that the full consequences of the Chernobyl disaster could top a quarter of a million cancers cases and nearly 100,000 fatal cancers.

To begin, this group will feature poignant portraits of individuals and families from Chernobyl photographed for Greenpeace by Robert Knoth.

Take action: Sign the Greenpeace petition online to call on the UN to stop promoting nuclear power. ctk.greenpeace.org/gp-en/ctk-collectors/respond?item_id=2...

Do you know where I could find old photos after the accident. I mean in the early 90s or so. I find myself fascinated with the looters, and how was it before they took everything.
And also, I see that there are no pictures with the apartments of the people there, why is that? There is nothing left inside? No furniture no personal objects?

what you need to do, instead of asking people about it, is to do your own homework.

research radiation, radiation exposure limits, dosages, and things like that.

you won't get anywhere good in life just by asking people for things.

I am thinking of going sometime this year. I have always wondered how safe it is there, having such a diaster happen. Seeing as all you have been and I am guessing many more, I am guessing the risks are minimal. I am right thinking this?

We were there for a two day tour on Sat 8th-Sun 9th October 2011. The most amazing time ever. We were told just before we went that the zone had been closed completely on 5th October and a tour had been turned back at the check point. Luckily our tour organiser, Lupine Travel did some amazing string pulling and got us in.
If anyone is considering a visit I would strongly advise a two day tour. Even this left us wanting more and we are planning a return next year. Be warned it is addictive!
