Folks, I am an amateur historical researcher. Some persons can validly call me a "pseudo-wannabe tourist", and it is true.

But how much of science is guesswork, using all the available comparison photos, comparison etymologies, without the academic licenses to go with the theories?

I happen to believe the ancient Greeks used mythological images to disguise their mariner maps. Should a Greek mariner ship be taken on the open oceans, all the pirates would find would be ornate ceramic jars with wonderful artwork on them.

Those were the maps of the ancient world, the routes to the copper mines, the islands interconnecting the continents, the population centers.

And the naming conventions haven't changed, but the appreciation of the pronunciations of various alphabet figures, is now better understood, as well as the mechanical-direction of pronunciation.

Examples, the ancient Greek name of the paradise island... Ogygia, and Gaia. Where is it? Could it be "Ahh-why-eee", with "soft g's", aka Hawaii?

Could Illinois have been Elianas, Hellenes?

Iowa, Iuaa... could this be the modern spelling of Yahweh?

Khepera... spelled left to right, could it have been pronounced Right to left, as in... A pera Kah, Africa?

99.999% of all that could be known, is not known. I am hoping to close the gap in a small way.

Hope you don't mind my theoretical, pseudo-archaeology guesswork.

Each individual photo tells you how many times it's been viewed. There's also the "Popular" option under "My Photos" which will list your top 200 photographs in the order of being viewed the most. (This can only be seen by the account's holder, not the public.)

There used to be a very simple way to find which of my fotos had 100+ views, using the stats page. But that's been changed now, so that the totals for each foto are no longer available there.

Has anybody found a way to work around this?
