Thanks for the offer,I have had a interest in the Railway System since I was a 10 year old kid in 1975.I live close to the ECML so Deltics were the Loco of choice.I was also lucky enough to catch the last dregs of the
Hydraulic era and I got to the Western Region as often as my very meagre allowence would let me.I also got to see loads of class 37 as Thornaby Depot (as it once was) is only 8 miles away from my home town of Hartlepool.I do have an interest in most things on rails even the
new stuff (it does nothing for the enthusiast in me but I do recognise a good design when I see one).Also York is just down the road so my
beloved Deltics or Westerns are never too far away.

Don't forget - if you're at a loose end over the next few days and fancy a trip to York then the National Railway Museum is presenting the huge "1968" event for railway fans with 20 steam/diesel locos, stalls, BBQs, DJs, real ale tents and much more.

More details on the NRM 1968 website but the locos include:

- Oliver Cromwell 70013 The last steam express locomotive in service on BR in 1968
- Evening Star 92220 The last steam locomotive built by British Railways in 1960
- Clun Castle 7029 Headed the special train marking the end of express steam working on the Western Region in 1964
- Kolhapur 45593 Withdrawn from Leeds, Holbeck depot in October 1967; the end of steam on the Settle-Carlisle route

If you'd like to reminisce, some footage of the last ever steam passenger service, the "15 Guineas Special" between Settle and Carlisle, is featured on the National Railway Museum YouTube channel.
