Slide Film Speed

First off, I have always shot color negative and B&W film and am getting just getting into color reversal film, so please excuse my question if it is a stupid one. :)

So I had a question about slide film in general. Why is it that slide film has such a low ISO? I mean like Fuji has it's Velvia 50 as well as and Provia 100 and then Kodak had its Ektachrome 64 and 100, but it also had the Kodachrome 25 and 64. But then as far as color neg film goes, the slowest I've ever seen has been Kodak's Ektar 100.

So just curious why the film is so slow compared to color neg film.

I appreciate the effort. Chances are those machines that made the film, are in a scrap heap somewhere. I doubt they are mothballed and ready to be sold.

A better petition would be to get agfa precisa 100 ct sold in the U.S.

Or some one to buy the kodak patents and hopefully the machines are still there to manufacture the film.

In my opinion you certainly do get a better and deeper color quality with provia 100f over 400x..

good point. If i were to order the 10 pack at $119 USD with an expiration date of 10/2013. How long can i keep that past the expiration date in a freezer?
