1. In this blog I tried to explain my experience seeing the space launch.

armandoperdomo.blogspot.com/

2. This is a great blog about anything you need to see the Launch. There Rainer Gerhards is doing a great job explaining everything he needs, research, etc to come from Germany and see the launch. In fact, he came before but he couldn't see it so help him with your comments. I am enjoying his blog daily.

3. When I started looking for some advise about how take this kind of pictures I found this website. There he explain almost anything you need.
I like how he show us how is the view from different places.

I was thinking that could be better if I choose good pictures from the group and I post them here. I was considering too choose them voting, but it could be complicated so I'll choose some of them and if you want to see one here, just post a comment in the group and I'll post it. ( or send me a message)
I'll just joined and will mention it in my launch viewing blog. Not sure if that helps, but it doesn't hurt in any case ;)

Maybe you can find some folks with pictures after the launch. I remember you had some scripts to do that (being the lazy one I am I remember such things...)

STS-120 was my first on-site launch viewing and my first trip to Titusville. Space View Park (aka Veteran's Park) was a terrific place to view from. I measured it as 12-miles from pad 39A in Google. I figured that the only places closer were at Cape Canaveral or at the small parking area on the other side of the Indian River Lagoon causeway, which would have been 11-miles. There was a large crowd at Space View Park and it was nice to have the souvenir stands and the streaming audio broadcast from the NASA launch center. I think it was coming straight from the website. I had my doubts early that morning as to whether the launch would go off given the cloud cover, but was very pleased that I was able to witness a clean and flawless launch. What an awesome experience!!!

Hi,

I think this is a great group with great results! How about a similar group for STS-122? Armando, are you up to create one?

BTW: I have already started to blog about STS-122. Even though I do not manage to do it as in-depth as with STS-120, it is still a very interesting fun project. And hopefully it, too, helps some folks out.

I live in Cocoa and my dad has a store that is right on the river. So, if I'm at work I can walk into the parking lot and watch it go up, or if I'm at home I can go out in my front yard. It always shakes our windows to let us know what's going on :) I have gotten to go to the NASA limited access launch viewing area a few times though as well, but really it's not that much closer than what I see all the time anyway.

Some months ago we planned a trip from the UK to watch the launch of STS-120 ... But they put the launch back 2 days from Sunday to Tuesday so we missed it ! (Very dissapointed)

BUT We stayed at the Clarion Hotel in Titusville .. The first floor rooms overlooking Kennedy would be a great place to watch the launch if you dont have tickets..

Thanks for the invite. I try not to miss a launch, but I'm not up close like the rest of you guys ... I'm in the Orlando suburbs. Still, it's great to watch and a real challenge to photograph.
