"(possibly) Shrewsbury's first ever Photomarathon competition" is taking place on Saturday the 30th of July.

At the Morris Hall, Bellstone,
Shrewsbury,
SY1 1JB
30th of July 2011 from 9.30 am

Just bring a digital camera and your imagination...

All proceeds go to the Woodford Foundation...

Photos will be displayed at Woodford sponsored photography exhibition at the Bear Steps Gallery on the 11th to 24th of September

i fear it may be in a magpies nest by now. i once found over 200 pounds worth of rings and necklaces in an empty magpie nest years ago!!

I lost this ring on Sunday (30th May 2010) - possibly by the river in Shrewsbury, possibly even in the Boat House inn where we stopped for lunch.

It may even have been lost in the Tesco Extra store which we visited briefly as we returned to where we were staying in Whitchurch on our weekend away.

The ring was a present from my other half for Christmas ... and I am posting here just in case any flickrites who live in this area have heard of it being found.
Who knows? I can only ask?

I am working with Shropshire Council's Archives and Museum services on an augmented reality project for the town. I am looking for photos of Shrewsbury that relate in some way to these buildings or locations:

Castle
Library
Council House
Blackfriars
Parade Shopping Centre/Old Nurses Home
Old St Chad's
The Abbey

The photos can be pictorial, or record and taken from any angle. and would need to be approximately 1000 pixels wide. The photos should be geocoded using the Maps feature in "Organize & Create" tab. I need your images by the end of February so that they can be uploaded to the website by first week in March.

The competition will be judged on technical merit as well as creativity. A small cash prize is available to the winner.

The photos will be used on a website which overlays the new pictures with the old and gives access to archive material and library databases. Credit will be given to all entries and will NOT be used for any other purpose, so as to preserve your copyright.

** High Priority **

Shop in the Loop (a group of Shrewsbury town centre retailers) supported
by Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council are producing a TV advert to
promote Christmas shopping in Shrewsbury this year. We are currently in
meetings with the ITV production team and are considering the
possibility of using some quality still images for the advert. Do you
have anything available that is festive, shows off the town/its
shops/Christmas lights etc?

We do need to collate the images by Tuesday 14th October 1.00pm so if
you could send me anything which may be suitable (low res fine for now)
by then, along with details of your charges for their use it would be
much appreciated. I will then be in touch if we would like to use any.
