I washed up in Ratho the other day, and I thought of this thread - it has some lovely 18th century stones (and some that look somewhat older than that).

Lens repair in Edinburgh?

sszdl posted a new topic:

The spring that moves the aperture blades in my lovely Cosinon Auto f2.8 135mm lens has stopped the moving the aperture blades :(

I know the lens itself is worth very little, and I can probably pick up another off ebay for next-to-nothing, but that's just heartless.

So what is the best place in Edinburgh to get it repaired? I only know of JP Camera Repairs on Montrose Tr or Cameratiks (? think that's right) in Morningside - are they good / reliable / cheap? Are there any others that would be recommended?

Thanks,

Abercorn, near Hopetoun House, has some remarkable headstones but even better is the little museum on the right on the way in. Enjoy - if that is the right word!

Hi, I visit Greyfriars every few weeks, always some new angle or detail... fantastic place but more of a cemetery, I'm looking for old kirks with sometimes just a few graves around them ( like Liberton etc), but thanks for the suggestion

Piershill has a few interesting stones

www.edinburghcemeteries.co.uk/piershill.htm
Piershill Cemetery was opened in 1887 and is set upon 18 acres of land ... There are two graves in Piershill containing soldiers who were awarded the Victoria Cross. ... The most famous burial in Piershill to date is that of "The Great Lafayette "

Google the Great Lafayette, it's an interesting story and the reason why Theatres especially ones in Edinburgh always test the Fire curtain before each performance.
