I took a look on Mikes's stream. Don't think i came there often. Good to have seen it now. It's really great work.

On a different note...thought this was a nice summary of the specificity of photography vis-a-vis any other medium.

That lauren palmor's blog (see Seldon's link) has some v. interesting stuff ...checked out under
photography and found this nicely put summary of the specific qualities of photography.

"Photography is art unbound, art distilled into purities of pathos and melancholy, thousands of taxonomies. Photography, more than any other art, concretely evokes reality. Pictures confer importance unto their subject, and this is made more interesting by its ability to take even the most mundane as its subject. A good photograph can move us in ways which a good painting cannot: this is because essentially, a photograph is proof. Yes: this happened. Yes: this image is a eulogy to an instance, a moment. The picture was taken, and so the moment ended. Someone draws the shutter between the before and after, so every picture becomes pregnant with the sense of that intervening flash of time."

yes, that is always the problem with charts and cursory histories....there are always people who one considers important that seem to get dropped off. This is probably inevitable, but one can't help getting annoyed by it just a little.
