I did shoot a couple of video clips (and lots of photos) this year, but not really got round to looking at any of them yet,

Dusk and night flying did take place on the Thursday and Friday, there are a few shots included in my album here, if you're interested;

I looked at the website for Saturday. Under "Flying times" it said "Night Air". 6pm. - 10 pm. I went to see it. I have no idea what "Night Air" was supposed to be, because there was nothing in the "Night Air". As it was in the space for flying times for Saturday, I had assumed that meant something would be flying. Silly me.

Lets Go Out Bournemouth and Poole posted a new topic:

The National Trust Island of Brownsea in Poole Harbour will be hosting a photographic trail as part of the British Festival of Archaeology, between 14th and 29th July.
Follow the photographic trail to find out more about its landscape and its past. Beautiful images of how the island used to look will be placed in select locations across the island, with each image accompanied by its own story. These photographs will allow you to compare the island as it was to how it is today.
This is a free event though normal admission prices will apply. National Trust members are free, just remember your card!
Ferries to the island depart from Sandbanks and Poole Quay (additional ferry charges apply).
Call to all Dorset photographers - Dorset by Night

DorsetScouser posted a new topic:

Dorset by Night is a county-wide collaborative project to bring stargazing photographers together. Following on from the huge success of the BBC's Stargazing Live series, as well as Bridport by Night by the project's curator, Stephen Banks.

For this project, we are seeking a group of dedicated local photographers who are willing to give a few hours of their time, in order to create some beautiful photography and video footage. In return, Dorset by Night will become a hub of social networking between like-minded creatives. Through a series of tutorial videos and Q&A sessions, you will pick up new ways of using your camera and the equipment you have. And, in the end, it will become a showcase for your work and could even earn you some money. The end results will take the form of a YouTube video and book of stills photographs.

Stephen generated over 10,000 hits on the video in less than a month, with it appearing in the Bridport News and the ITV West Country Tonight. A county-wide project could potentially attract national media attention.

So, with much more to come, keep an eye on this space.

As Dorset by Night enters its first phase, I am sourcing the county's photographers through a number of different sources. Please start posting your photos on the Flickr group: www.flickr.com/groups/dorsetbynight/

And say hi whilst you're at it!

Thanks for the replies so far.

It's odd, I live in the New Forest yet have never really explored and shot a lot of Dorset, even the well known places.

I haven't planned an itinerary yet, hence the question. I'm tempted to start with a Corfe castle sunrise, as it's always been on my to do list, though doubt there'll be any of the famous mist.

I may well end up doing something a little different trying to shoot some short eared owls at Wyke down.

In between those, who knows!
